It was in 1988 with the classroom course of slate and of traditional techniques that Louseira de Canelas was reactivated, and the following year was created the company “Ardósias Valério & Figueiredo, Lda”, which a company of strong family roots that till nowadays and in a rapid mood has been establishing itself in the national and international market with its natural cleaved slate products.
All along the years this product has gained notoriety due to its huge quality when compared to similar products extracted in other regions.
We can even say that “Ardósias Valério & Figueiredo, Lda” is the biggest industry in the municipality, employing only local work, contributing to the maintenance of the regions’ traditional roofs and providing innovation as the processes and products are concerned but always remembering the artisan aspect which describes it.
