SPM - Sociedade das Pedreiras do Marco is a company founded in 1967 that operates in the extraction, transformation and commercialization of granite as ornamental rock, extracted in the company’s quarries of Lages, Cavadinha and Monte do Fojo (Roriz), all located in north Portugal.

The distinct attributes of the granites extracted and their superior quality, along with the effort to continuously improve both the extra action and transformation processes, allow SPM to achieve a product with differentiative characteristics. SPM is a ISO9001:2008 certified company.

The product’s quality, the competence we place in the negotiation and the strict compliance with all commercial agreements, have been contributing decisively to the growing acceptance of our brand in high demand markets, such as central and northern
Europe. SPM has a place among the largest Portuguese exporters of granite, a position which, recently, we have been able to reinforce.

Our commitment doesn’t restrict to the market itself, but also with all our stakeholders – for us, social responsibility is important. SPM Sociedade das Pedreiras do Marco has a constant concern to ensure satisfaction and realization to its employees, providing them with the adequate working environment, along with a fair return for their work.

In addition, we refuse to live peacefully with the vision that our activity has an adverse relation with the environment. In order to overcome this paradigm, we commit to recover the quarries we explore at the end of their life cycle, and we protect all wetlands that result from their exploration. We keep these artificial ponds, known as habitats of particular importance for biodiversity preservation, protecting then and ensuring that they are not significantly disturbed by our daily operations.

Therefore, along with our constant concern with our community and the environment, we take actions in order to promote the growing use of the products extracted from our quarries, because for us Granite is natural and Nature is eternal!
