Empresa das Lousas de Valongo, SA was established in 1865.
The company extracts bluish-grey Valongo Slate (EN12440) and does all the work from the extraction to transformation. Empresa das Lousas de Valongo is the owner of more than 100 ha in the Valongo slate area, the ELV has very large raw material reserves. The extraction is all done by machinery and the manufacturing transforms a big amount of products, in which the accuracy, quality and natural beauty are the main attributes.
Nowadays, the main productions are the slabs and tiles cleft, sawn or honed although the production of finished products keeps going on.
