Sibelco appeared in 1872 in Belgium, as a family company. Through the years, it has been growing, as the result of a strategy of acquisition of companies of the same sector, being nowadays with a total of 233 unities, in 40 countries, in the 5 continents and employing around 9500 workers. It provides to its business partners a diversified portfolio of minerals.
In Portugal, Sibelco was inaugurated in 1973, in Rio Maior, dedicating itself to the extraction of special sands (quartz) and kaolin, focused in the trade of mineral solutions for the varied markets, such as glass, ceramic, foundry, paints, sports & leisure…. Currently it has working unities in Rio Maior, Alenquer and Aveiro and employs 50 people. With large experience in the extractive sector, it invests in high technology, innovation, in the high quality standards, in specialized human resources, in their security and in the respect for the environment, in order to answer to the demands of the market and assure a sustainable future.
